Its important both for the humans and the Google bots.
Impressive blog description makes visitors click on the search result, which adds to your blog CTR and further improves your ranking in Google or other search engines.

Such impressive meta description also gives trust signals to the viewers and makes them feel the site’s authority over the niche and to click on your SERP result.
My 9 Tips on How to Write the Best Blog Description
Best blog description isn’t just for Google or humans – But for both of them.
These help to improve your CTR, conversion rate and improves your site traffic.
If you don’t write an impressive and highly converting blog description, simply you are losing some of the traffic and sometimes even the ranking you deserve in Google or other Search Engines.
So, follow my 9 tips as mentioned here to write a perfect blog description
Tip#1. Add the Main Keywords – A Must and Should Thing to do (For New Blogs)
Add the main keyword, usually the focus area of your blog in the blog description. Also, add related keywords about your niche.
Let’s take a blogging site as an example.
What will be the main keyword? Obviously, it will be blogging.
So the related keywords mostly include SEO, digital marketing, blogging tools, wordpress, hosting, etc. which are highly related to the blogging niche.
You need to naturally include the main keyword and one or two related keywords you wish to discuss in your blog.
By adding them, you are making it easy for the crawlers to know more about your blog and what you write about.
Tip#2. Use your Brand Name
If you are building a site for your brand, then include the brand name in the blog description.
This can help as a trust and relevancy signal.
Tip#3. Write in a Conversational Tone
Write the blog description in a conversational tone, which means the writing should be like a conversation as if you are talking with the other person.
Using words like you, I, we can help you to make the description conversational.
It should not be like a statement or textbook sentence.
Tip#4. Keep it Simple
Try to keep your meta description as simple as possible, it helps the users to go through the description completely and increases the chances of clicking it.
Understand that no one wants to read a complex sentence and digest it. So, keep it easy to read.
Tip#5. No More than 158 Characters or 920 Pixels
The maximum length of Google search engine Meta description is up to 920 pixels, which is slightly equivalent to 158 characters (letters, digits, and punctuations).
So, google only shows a maximum of 158 characters of meta description information in its search engine results.
Try to write within that limit.
If you write more, Google just shows three dots at the end of the description and the user will not be able to read it.
So, try to write your blog description with in 158 characters.
Tip#6. Use Power Words or Trigger Words
Power words or Trigger Words are the words that have the capability to influence the readers and trigger an action.
Words like best, top, easy, effective, existing, powerful, introducing are some of the examples of power words.
Use the perfect power words depending upon your writeup to grab the reader’s attention and engage them.
Tip#7. Craft it on Your Own
Try to keep your meta description as unique as possible, don’t copy from others.
Write what you want to express to others about your blog in a sentence.
For sure, a wonderful sentence will be Infront of you, a unique one crafted on your own.
Tip#8. Add Call to Action Words
Call to action words are simple words and sometimes they can also be sentences that are highly influential and helps to convince the viewer to click on the search result or the intended product.

Even the informative blogs too can use it in a way like a blog by the experts, check it out or such words to boost CTR.
Tip#9. Write Three or More Blog Descriptions and Select the Best (THE ULTIMATE ONE)
Another pro tip I would like to give is to write three different blog descriptions, go through all of them, and pick the most sensible one that you like.
This can help to get the best blog description.
Although you might think writing three or more descriptions is a waste of time, I personally believe it is worthy enough as it’s the piece of content that’s first seen by the viewers along with your title.
Sometimes it can even act as a deciding factor for the visitor to click or not click on your search result.
Moreover, writing 3 different formats of just 160 characters each won’t even take much time.
Follow these 9 tips; I am sure that you will get a good Blog Description.
What if I don’t write a Blog Description
Regarding the search appearance, usually, either of these two things can happen depending upon whether your blog have posts or not.
IF YOU DON’T WRITE A BLOG DESCRIPTION
The meta description area under your home page title appears blank in the search result or some data on the home page or information from the posts present on your home page will appear as the meta description, which sometimes looks weird for the visitors.
Here is an example of a site’s home page that doesn’t have a description written. In this case I think the crawler had taken data from cookie notice.
It can even disrupt the visitors’ trust, decrease CTR, and may even lower the Search engine ranking.
So, it’s good to write the meta description for your home page. (even if you write or don’t write for your blog posts)
How to OPTIMIZE my Blog Description with Keywords
Its really a simple thing
First of all, identify the Primary keywords for your blog.
Primary keywords are the central topic that you focus on your blog like fashion, beauty, tech, travel, lifestyle, and so on.
Then identify the related or semantic (LSI keywords) of your niche. For example, lets take the tech niche; the semantic or related keywords will be gadgets, computers, apps like that.
Depending upon what you wish to write in your blog, include the keywords.
But DON’T STUFF KEYWORDS
Use the main keyword along with one or two secondary keywords naturally in the description.
Using these keywords helps the search engines to better understand your website and the areas of interest and what your site is about.
